Winter session 2007 news The Northern TRIBS swim club just completed its inagural winter session. 15 swimmers from St. Lawrence County participated. "We were very pleased with the outcome of our first session," said TRIBS coach Jessica L. Jock. "We were able to have a few fun meets in the off-season from high school, and many girls were able to achieve personal bests in a very short training period. It was a bit of a challenge to work around all the other winter activities, but I think we were successful for our first run with a great bunch of kids to start us off on the right foot." TRIBS participants this past winter session were: Chelsea Chambers, Matthew Chambers, Emily Lynch, Aubrey Czajkowski, Ashley Devine, Natassia Fodor, Nikita Gupta, Emily Marshall, Liz Mauch, Chelsea Palmer, Kelsey Rimmer, Noelle Rufa, Chantal Delisle, and Abbey Thompson. Four swimmers competed at the February Freeze Meet on Feb. 10 at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy. The contest, a USS-sanctioned meet, featured some of the best swimmers from the Capital District. TRIBS participants were Emily Lynch, Chantal Delisle, Kelsey Rimmer, and Serenity Davis. The quartet qualified for Silver Division championships, while Rimmer and Davis qualified for Gold Division championships. Davis and Rimmer captured an array of colorful ribbons as they placed in the top 16 in most events they were entered, including several eighth-place finishes. "It was fun to see the girls compete in events they normally don't swim in high school, and surprise themselves at how well they did," Jock said of the duo. |
